3" tail pipe

I mistakenly purchased a 3" in/out muffler (there wasn't anything in the description that it was different than stock) to replace my holey stock one. So instead of sending it back I was just going to buy a 3" tail pipe and neck it down to 2.5" somewhere before the muffler. But I'm having trouble locating a 3" tail pipe at a reasonble cost and without all the extra exhaust pieces. Does anyone know where to get one online or local parts chains? We have autozone and advance auto and I think I know of a napa store. Thanks.

must be a different napa store as I just checked ours and it only has $160 dynomax one available. The pointed me toward a local shop to custom make one. And they want $5 / foot for pipe and then $1.50 for each bend... plus the time it takes to make it. Nearest I can guess it will take 5 foot of pipe and 5-8 bends (depends on what's considered a bend). So I looking at 30-40 for pipe and bending. I need to add time but i'm not sure on rate and time it takes yet. Does this sound reasonable or should I just go buy two reducers and and clamps to make it work? Would there be any drawbacks to going into a 3" muffler and then going back down to 2.5" stock tail pipe?

Take the muffler to that shop, and, let them weld it in. They will make sure of the correct fit, and, you will be out all of the worry.

I bet you can get it installed for the price of the pipe alone at napa.

definitely agree with what tech-doc said...exhaust shops usually have extremely reasonable rates for their work, it takes them almost no time at all to get it bent and installed...it cost me 100 dollars for two new tailpipes to be bent and installed and to have new tips welded on...the exhaust system was already in place, but i had messed up the tailpipes that i have 45'd out behind my rear tires offroading so i had them replaced and had new tips put on at the same time

If it was blessed I wouldn't be replacing it as it would have eternal life And then it would be holy rather than holey.

When I get to that part of the truck to fix (lots of things to fix) in the near future... I think I will pull the old muffler and tail pipe off and see how it sounds and then shortly after get the exhuast shop to put the muffler on closer to the cab and run the pipe out in front of the rear tire instead of making all those extra bends to get over the axle and our the side.
