Thumbs down Cutting off cats

Howdy Yall!

I was at my local muffler shop setting up a "true" duel exhaust system for my truck and I asked the guy if he would cut off the cats (4 of them) he said he would, BUT he said because of the O2 sensors on front and in back of the cat, it would most likley trip the computer and it may start running rich becaus the sensors think it is running lean because there are no cats. He also said that if I did it, I should go to my local speed shop and have them
re-flash the computer for the mod.

All of this sounded resonable to me, but I am no expert! There for, I did not do it until I can confirm the information.

Can any of yall shed some light on this?

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

the Front o2 will not trip a code with no cats because it just sees how much fuel is left in the exhuast the Rear o2 WILL TRIP because it sees how much the Cat's cleaned the exhuast. So yes going to a local speed shop and have them do a Rear o2 delete will get rid of the CEL that trips with no cats. or you can get o2 sims for the rear o2's to trick the computer into thinking there working.

Or if you have a custom tune just have your tuner turn the rear sensors off.

Why not put in some high flow cats and everyone will be happy?

The high flows will be the best for your engine I think.

But, you can like stated before, get them deleted with a tuner or get the doo dads that will trick the PCM.

Hi-Flow cats would sound clearer and maybe performan a bit better, but the cat delete wont be too bad as long as the CEL is taken care of.
