Want more tone...

So, since $ is a tiny bit tight right now (as it is for everyone I think)... what do ya'll think of swapping out just the muffler for now? Which muffler do you suggest for a nice deep tone with no drone?

Original plans, and still wanting to, are to add a cat back and headers.

TIA!

i would go with magnaflow. best sound for the ford V8's, whether a 4.6 or 5.4. once you get enough $$, you can still build you system off of the muffler....unless you wont to go duals, then you need a new one.

I'd go with Borla. At least get your money's worth.

It will have a great tone, no drone, add performance, AND it wont rust. ever. Not even surface rust. None of the other mufflers provide all of that.

I went with a 18" Magnaflow muffler & stainless tip. If I was to do it over again, I would get a Borla muffler (shorter than 18" too) For a little more tone.

Since money is an object...You can get a flowmaster welded in for around $120 . Magnaflows are nice but kinda quiet. Borlas cost too much. On a stock truck the difference in power will not be noticeable from one brand to the other.

he specifically stated he wanted no drone. Flowmasters are notorious for droning. My flowmaster droned a lot. Borla might cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for.

I had a magnaflow put in place of the stock muffler. Sounded great and satisfied me until I got the Roush Off Road. I'm really happy with both, but I love the Roush!

Hey, mSall150, are you satisfied with Borla? I think thats the way I want to go for dual exhaust. Pro-XS most likely(cheapest).

I have the Roush Offroad muffler, which is borla made. It is smaller then most of the other Borlas, but everyone with the Pro XS has been happy with it. And yes i am overly satisfied. I switched from a flowmaster and i will always use a straight through muffler from now on.

Get a 14" Magnaflow. No drone at highway speeds and aggressive tone when you get down on it!

yessir, but my buddy is gonna cut off my rear cats either this week or next, so i'm gonna wait until then to get a soundclip.

Deleted rear cats and Roush Offroad dumped...should sound MEAN! eventually this summer i'll prolly get custom tips 45'd out the back. It'll be a truly custom Roush Offroad, none other like it.
