Tips mounting question

I got the Cherry Bomb Vortex kit #300612 but I'm not sure if they sent me the right tips. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that the tips should fit over the tailpipe so it can either be clamped or welded, but when I line them up the tailpipe and the inlet on the tip are the same size and there is no way one will fit inside the other? Is this normal or should they fit one inside the other?

It sounds like the tips you have are flange & weld ons, not slip over & clamp ons. Go to an exhaust shop and they will install them.

I checked the installation instructions that came with the kit and it says the tips are supposed to slip over the tailpipe. They look used since theres a pretty heavy carbon buildup inside the inlet of the tip. I called them and they said the tips are supposed to fit over the pipe so they prolly sent me the wrong tips, so they are sending me a new sent that will fit.
