Anyone using an Electric Cutout?

I happened across this site:

QTE: (http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/index.php)

Quick Time Electric Cutout. I was wondering if anyone is running this setup or one similar to it. What are the benefits if any to running a cutout? Does this hurt anything? Or is this mod mainly for "looks/sound"? Thanks.

Carl

Dont know much about them, but I have another link. I plan on doing cutouts, so I saved it.

A cut out aloows you do have an open part of the exhaust for a temporary time. Pretty much it enables you to have it roaring loud when you want it to, and back to quiet/calmer when you want it.

Manual cut outs you crawl under and unscrew the plate. Electric you flip a switch which ofcoarse is the more prefered way.

And its just for sound. So imagine going from straight pipe to stock/custom muffler by the flip of a switch.

, I knew what they were, just didn't know if there were any benefits or disadvantages. I was once told that they will increase mpg if you run them on highway due to less restriction. Just something I heard, no idea if its true. Also heard they were illegal in some states. Dont know if thats true either.
I just want the sound

I myself would only do it in front of the cats otherwise it will be muffled alot and kinda wasting a few hundred bucks. I'll be running them on my old 64 but it goes 3.5" collector on the header to a 3" reducer and about that point get them installed. Obviously no cats on that thing so it's worthwhile.
