Flowmaster vs. Magnaflow ?
Flowmaster vs. Magnaflow ?
I know I will be having an aftermarket exhaust put on my truck from week one {luckily, I have a mechanic buddy who specializes in exhaust systems}. He says Magnaflow and Flowmasters are both good, and he didn't have much of an opinion towards one or the other.
My motor is the 4.6L if that makes a difference.
Anybody tried both ? .....or at least, listened to both ?
Curious,

Thank you Andy....
yes, I believe the Magnaflows are stainless..... which if it were typically visible, would be a problem for my "blacked out" theme.... but with a black tip, I think it will be fine.

Flowmaster sounds good, and idles loud. But overtime ( if you suffer witners ) they will rust and will probably need replacing after a year or two.
Magnaflow is much quieter but sounds very clear & healthy, does not drone in cab like Flowmaster can when overdrive engages. Constructed of T-409 stainless steel, it wont rust out & break apart. May get a little surface rust with the Satin finish muffler but who cares its under the truck. Magnaflows straight through flow design also helps your truck exhale a bit better, combined with a CAI you have a little noticeable power gain.
Edit.
