Talking Installed!

LT's installed, I had no real issues with the header studs, two were broken off and two of the nuts came off instead of the studs coming out of the head. I just went and picked up a stud puller and them out in a few minutes.

The most difficult part was getting the dipstick tube out! I ended up using a chisel and small hammer between the crimp and the block to get it loose, then wiggled away and it finally came out.

I didn't have any fitment issues at all, and was able to turn the tubes on the Maggie cat-back so I was able to direct the pipes out behind the tires

I didn't take out the starter or even the tranny support, just cut out all the old exhaust. The exhaust sounds pretty good, it is a little louder than I would like for around the city, but if your easy on the gas, it is surprisingly quiet. I drove it back 500kms right after installing and the only thing I had to do when I stopped to check the bolts was snug up the collector bolts.

I would recommend the Magnaflow system to anyone looking for exhaust, fit and finish was good, and the quality of the hardware was second to none. Best of all for me is that if your just cruising down the highway at around 65-70 I couldn't hear any drone but when you step on it, the old girls got some bark

I took a few pics, but istead of boring you with them all, I'll just put up a couple of what my cats looks like inside, I was a little surprised.

Cat pics

Here's what the inside of my cats looked like. I suggest to anyone that has a high mileage truck to seriously consider replacing your cats!

Mine only had 76k miles, but on hot tuning with some minor towing. In fact, my exhaust valves were pitted and had to be faced. My cats still looked like new, not even a bit dirty looking. Nice and white. Wonder what the deal is...you tuned? Who did it? I'd hate to see YOUR exhaust valves.

it's running the stock tune, haven't got the truck to a point where I am ready for a tuner to put their hands on it.

My truck has run everything from Purple (farm gas) to 120 octane airplane fuel.

I think they they got hot on a trip to Golden from Vancouver, I was pulling a 4 place enclosed sled trailer up a 6 to 8% grade with the truck just floored for at least 5 miles. after that, it just didn't run the same and the exhaust note got noticeably quieter.

I don't want to know what my heads look like, and I don't plan on finding out for at least a year. so far I only have a few pieces to start my motor build.

I am amazed at how quite the motor is now, especially when your next to a building.

(and yes the 4 place trailer had 4 sleds and a snowhawk in it, and 4 guys in the truck, the box was also totally loaded with gear)

That's a hell of a trip / load, sounds like that would have done it.

No I cannot tell any PSI difference, still just over 9 on my gauge right before shifts.

There is a noticable power difference while accelerating and a big difference in fuel economy, I'm almost at 3 mpg better than before the swap.

Blown - Stock Tune? I know your planning a motor build, I think I would have to make a trip to the Dyno before starting that project - You may be REAL Suprised what a PI 5.4L can do dialed in with your mods.

I think I would if theres one in the area, it's not that exspensive OR that big of a deal if you have a shop locally. - The good about that - They can tell you the condition of your motor as well. Just make sure you have a great set of Copper plugs in there before hand.

Check This -

I can only find one local guy, he has only ever done cars before though. But he has done 4 mustang 4.6L with pro-chargers. His dyno was just installed a month ago. I will make an appointment after I save up a little cash, he's quoting me $150 an hour for tuning. I just bid on flex-a-lite #270 fans, and I think I got 'em, there's only 15mins left on the auction. With Gas being $1.56 a liter here for premium here I might have to space out my mods a little more than I have been.

We'll see how it goes in the coming weeks.

You guys are just a bad influence

jbrew grab a used procharger or centrufigal run a 18psi pulley setup and an external wastegate set on 12psi and enjoy the ride.

look for a paxton non intercooler and find some one upgrading and grab thier intercooler and piping.

You've already go the exhaust done

Yea , I just finished welding that up solid - well almost - I didn't weld that FM 50 on there yet , just clamped it for now. Not sure if I'm keeping that one. It's freakin quiet as hell - now it's to quiet

I might get that Magnaflow off-set they have up the road here ($80)or order a Borla - not sure how much those are.
