After ordering the Roush Off-Road exhaust system, I decided to have a local exhaust shop perform the install. The individual installing the system has been installing exhaust for over 30 years. In order for the install to look correct, it was necessary to cut, bend and weld pipe. The installation took 3.5 hours and cost me $240.00 - It looks and sounds great. I guess I was a little pissed about spending $500.00 on what I thought was a quality built system, only to spend another $240.00 to rectify fitment issues . Don't get me wrong, the quaility of the parts provided is second to none. And the sound is outstanding. The guy performing the installation does the highest quality work - he is a true perfectionist. He explained that some of the bends in the pipe were off ever so slightly, and that the tips just did not align correctly as a result.

If I had it to do over again, I would purchase a Borla SI/DO muffler, and have my local exhaust shop bend and install the pipe - This might be worth looking into...

DAYUM!!

$240 to install a cat-back that more than likely was designed to fit your truck as-is?

I'd ask for about $150 back from that shop.

I'm assuming that when you ordered the system that it was the one specific for you truck, yes?

I can see charging so much if there was a buttload of bending, or you've put on headers, etc., but unless you ordered something other than what's made for your truck, you got robbed.

I oredered a Borla 140136, SI/SO, called a couple of local shops to see what they'd charge, and both were in the $65 to $90 range.

I went ahead an installed it myself, took about 2 hours with cutting and drinkin' a beer, standin' back to admire everything, tightning bolts, more beer, more admiration.. LOL

I think them ol' boys ripped ya off..

I put the Roush SI/DO side exit before the rear wheel on my 2008 SCrew.
VERY easy install! I did have to heat and bend one of the hangars, but that was no big deal. Propane torch, bench vise, no worries. I love my Roush side exit off-road, and highly recommend it to anyone.

BTW, everyone's situation is a bit different, but paying someone else to install this cat-back makes no sense to me. If you can change your own oil, if you can rotate your own tires, you ought to be able to (easily) install this exhaust.

There are those who, for whatever reason, simply don't want to deal with it, and would prefer to pay for an install. That's fine - but don't complain about the price if you decide to hire it out.

My 2¢

Sorry...no sound clips. But the Roush has a great sound - no doubt. My favorite of all vehicles I have ever owned.

I would bet money that they make more profit from selling the banks kit than the roush, thats why they are telling you that.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. But is the Banks any better then the Roush? How would a Roush hold up in offroad situations because i do go offroading and a lot of places i go riding i have to drive on trails and stuff.

It should last well. It will certainly sound better. As long as the hangers in the kit are rubber supported ( which they should be cause the kit should hang in the OEM hangers ) it will be good.

lol yeah. Dont you love the excitement & torture of getting a big thing done to your truck? I was siked when I got my chevys exhaust components together, & had to wait to get it installed, but it was worth it.

Now with my F150, I have my system planned out, now I just need $500 to buy it all
