Flowmaster to Magnaflow

I used to have a flowmaster 50 series, which sounded ok but didn't think it was that loud. I switched to a flowmaster 40 series which sounds pretty good but alot of drone when cruising. I've read this on here before and read it a few more times in recent threads about magnaflow having better performance. I am thinking about switching to magnaflow due to flowmaster drone. Will I notice any difference in performance? Which size should I go with? I was thinking 14" but wasn't sure. Also, I'm assuming the less offset the more sound I am going to get, correct me if I'm wrong but that's just what makes sense to me. Wasn't sure if I should go with center/center, center/offset or offset/offset.

Go with the 14", 4" round mufflers, and a 2.5" inlet/outlet. Since you have the high flows, I would go with a true dual setup and add a x as well.

You might notice a little bit of performance gain with the Magnaflow but nothing big by the seat of your pants dyno. Like joshmac said go with the 14" muffler.

is that going to be the center/center inlet/outlet? i'm guessing that is similar to a cherrybomb glasspack

i don't think i'm going to go through the trouble of running true dual exhaust but still may go with that muffler. i pretty much quit dumping money in my truck for performance but i do want to get rid of this drone without having to put on factory exhaust

If you wish to stay with a single exhaust, that 4" round Magnaflow should make you happy. I got Flowmaster Super 44s on my chevy & they drone & are loud, I like it though, but it gets old after awhile. Its much better with my F150 being the daily driver now. I'm planning to buy the 5x8x14 Magnaflows for mine.

Stick with the 2.5" pipe, or if your going with dual outlet, get the 5x8x14 single inlet dual outlet, have the inlet 3" & get a 3" intermdiate pipe, and 2.5" outlet & tailpipes with 3.5" tips. Great back pressure, clearier & healthier sound.

if i were you i would go with the dual in dual out 14" magnaflow becuase 1) it sounds amazing and it will give you more performance and you might noice a lil fuel gains, and 2) its a porferate muffler with a built in x-pipe that way you dont have to worry about pressure differences and with any maggie there is litle if any drone, i had a super 40 series on my truck and thats all i heard driving down the interstate

I'm a former Flowmaster 40 owner and recent Magnaflow convert.
You will like the 14" maggie. I have a SIDO 14" and it is quieter than the Flowmaster 40. It sounds great when you stomp on the gas and the drone does not drive me crazy like the Flowmaster 40 did while cruising at highway speeds.
