S&B along with Roush Off-Road

I have an 5.4 2004 XLT. Will the S&B work in conjunction with the Roush Off-Road exhaust? Will I gain any seat of the pants noticable difference with these two? Will I need a tuner or are these two good enough by themselves?

Thanks

Carl

I started with the Roush off-road and then added the AFE stg II sealed intake kit.. Which is VERY similar to the S&B ... I did notice a nice bump in power when the intake went on.. The exhaust by itself did next to nothing power wise, but the engine pulls harder since the intake was added.. part throttle is very noticeable..

From what I have been reading on this subject sounds very promising. But I am still wondering if I really need a tuner. My budget just won't allow that right now and I don't want to spend all this money and then have it not work properly or have it have a negative effect on things.

I know what you mean. I am in the same boat. I can afford one upgrade at a time. I just never have enough extra cash to make all the changes at once. That's why I did the exhaust first then added the CAI. So far all is well.. no codes.. no problems.. my mods have complimented one another nicely. A custom tune is the next thing on my list, but it's probably still a couple of months away.

You will be fine without the tuner, and once you get the tuner you will notice even that much more of a difference.

uhm, the best thing to do is order custom tunes first, then add mods as you go. Tuning will give you WAY better performance gains then the intake or exhaust, AND way better driveabillity.

Call up Troyer Performance, and order their custom tuning. Then when your budget allows, add an intake or exhaust. Then the other.

Trust me, its a MUCH better investment. PLUS by ordering an intake without a tune, you will lean out your engine which is dangerous and could harm the engine. Tuning will keep it all safe.

Isn't a new tune required after each upgrade/mod? And each of these new tunes add to the cost of the new mod?
