You are probably going to find that your EGR is going to be different. You can try to adapt it or I believe you can just get an EGR from one of the 99-03 models. It's has something to do with the way the EGR attaches to the manifold/header.

Yeah, as I have figured with my research, you will have to just buy an egr pipe for a 99 model 5.4l this way the pipe will attach to the header fitting. 97 and 98 models have a different type of egr pipe. I still have my obx kit in the box but I should be installing them really soon; so I will let you know how it goes.

I was looking all over for the thread(s) where you were asking about the EGR on the 97 and 98 models and couldn't find it anywhere so I gave up. I was going to link it here. Oh well, you get the point.

Turbo,
Hows that install going?
Is replacing the egr pipe with a 99 model the only change needed besides the exhaust pipes?
I e-mailed obx and they said they wont work.
I think they meaning a direct fit.

Did they say why they wouldn't work?

No they didn't say.
Just an e-mail saying they dont fit.
I thinking that it the egr pipe that wont fit.
I dont know for sure.
Thats why I have been asking Turbosean how his install was going.
I also have a 97 5.4 and have been looking at OBX LT for my truck.

Hey Sandbar, yeah I haven't installed it yet. I'm thinking about next weekend since this weekend's all booked up for me. I did gather up all the parts for the install though! I got the percy gasket set, and the 1999 5.4l EGR pipe from Ford. Oh, and I also got the exhaust gasket donuts that are always missing with the non-lightning obx kits (beware that you will be charged extra for them by obx, otherwise find them locally somewhere).

So now I have all the parts to do it, I'm just waiting to get some wrench time! I definately know that I'll need it! I've already gone through 2 sets of shorty headers now, continually dissatisfied, so we'll see how these go?

I will keep you informed on the install. And, again, obx does not know much about this kit so don't expect to get much from them.

Well I am almost about to do the install. Was wondering what everyone ran for the collector bolts? It's obviously set up for spring bolts, but I can't seem to find any with the correct thread pitch?? Also, I received the 2.5" donuts from obx and found that they're too big. The collector is actually just shy of 2.5" (measured 64mm) and they sent a 2.55" collector donut.

Anyhow, for those of you that have done this kit, what did you use???

Okay, here's my update! The long tubes themselves installed just fine. No clearance issues. BUT the resonator-pipe on for the driver's side is too short. It's about 3.5" too short! So I will have to get this pipe lengthened.

I believe this kit will be fine with the 4r70w trans users but the kit doesn't work-out smoothly on my 1997 5.4l 4x4 Expedition. The Trans. crossmember is just too far back to work.

Oh well, I will update with the rest of the install.
