Muffler or full setup

O.K. so I'm tricking out my FX4. Got the rims and tires. Also 21/2 in level kit. Time for exaust. I want a nice sound thinking of Flowmaster 40 series oor the new 44. Possible Magnaflow or Roush. I can get the muffler on line for say about $100. What is the advantage of spending over $500 for all the pipes? My truck is an 06, no rusted pipes. What am I missing? Any reason to shell out more money for all that metal if just the muffler will do? Also suggestions on Magna vs Flowmastervs Roush ?

Other than the benefit from mandrel bent pipes, there are none unless you want to go with bigger diamter. In my previous car this was a plus but from what I have learned here, its not that big of a deal. Save your money and just get the muffler and tip(s).

The main advantage over an entire cat-back is the smoothest mandrel bends, and if you buy a good exhaust ( like Magnaflow ) it will be constructed of stainless steel.

The Flowmaster 40 series is much more restrictive than the Super 44 is, the Super 44 is louder, deeper, and much more free flowing. I have them true dualed on my Chevy truck and they are great. So I would recommend Super 44 over 40 series. It will definitely be loud, not obnoxious loud, but people will hear you.

Magnaflow & Roush are great, Magnaflow gives a very deep toned V8 rumble, alot of people like them. I'll be doing Magnaflow on my next setup since I'm tired of buying nothing but Flowmaster Magnaflow is better constructed than Flowmaster is though, so keep that in mind. Roush I believe only sells kits and thats for the 04+ trucks only. Borla is the manufacturer of Roush exhausts so if you got a 10" long Borla muffler you can make your own Roush muffler.

Hope this has helped.

I'd just get the muffler, and have a shop bend you some pipes. You could have them come out in front of the rear tires, if you want.

For 500, you could probably get two mufflers (assuming around 150 for both), an X pipe (assuming $80), and get some true duals (assuming the labor is around $200, don't know how much they usually charge for this.)
