x-pipe question

Decided to have an x-pipe installed today since it is my day off. Well I have to drop it off at 3:00. My question is the exhaust guy said he has x-pipes but they are 2 1/4 my pipes are 2 1/2 will that matter? I asked him and he said he can expand it to fit. I dont want to have a bottle neck in my exhaust after all I am doing this for performance and dont want to lose any.

I have gibson sorty headers, stock cats, modded the stock y pipe into true duals 2 1/2in with a flowmaster dual in dual out muffler out the corners of the truck if this helps any.

My setup is like this, I have 2.5" true duals and a 2.25" X-pipe, many people felt like the 2.25" gave them better torque and bottom end than the 2.5", and with the x, it keeps exhaust flow up due to the scavenging, so the 2.25" will work fine, I have pics if you want to see.

Thanks man was worried about it being to small. Never thought about it giving better torque but it does make since. Well guess I will go ahead and have it done.

Higher velocity and promotes better scavenging

but doesnt that just effect where in the rpm it makes its peak torque... not actually create more?

It will create more torque as well as change the whole torque curve.

Still, I would imagine a single muffler with dual inlets the pressure would go into the muffler and return with back pressure and let the exhaust sound & fumes flow right out.
