I have a Roush Off Road exhaust. It is not illegal. Hell, you live in Texas, right? Loud exhausts are the norm in Texas.

I'v heard Stealth's truck, it's not overly loud at all. Nice throaty sound, about the same volume as my Flowmaster 40.

You guys are getting confused. I have REAL Offroad exhaust on my mustang... Long tube headers, h-pipe with no cats, flows dumped... Offroad has to do with emissions..... Not sound. Roush just calls it Offroad, it's not really illegal. Heck it's not even near as loud as most of the trucks around here. The Roush Offroad is JUST right. And not illegal, unless your state requires your car be quieter than a certain DB.

No confusion here, that was said at the start.

Yeah I was more directing it towards emmitt240.. Should have said so. Just read post after post of ppl talking about it being illegal and it's not. Dono why they call it that.. Maybe a few states say it's too loud? Not ours!

In Tarrant County I can tell you without a doubt Off Road Exhaust will not pass inspection. I have been denied a inspection sticker at 2 different locations when I had my Cobra. There are places in Arlington that will pass anything where all the speed shops are located.

Go to the Texas DPS website and pull up the exhaust section. You will see that any tampering of your factory exhaust system is a violation. It will also tell you that cars built after 1984 must have cats on it. A true off road exhaust has no cats and is NOT legal. Now that is not saying some place will not inspect it. If that is not enough for you go to any performance part website and there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the product that says this,

All intermediate MAC systems are 2-1/2” in diameter and fit stock or MAC direct replacement headers. Fits 5-speed or automatic. Complete with O2 bosses and air tube.

Includes gaskets and bolts. F/L=Full Length headers.

Off road pipes are intended for race use only, they do not have catalytic converters and are not emissions legal.

First off... the Roush is just not that loud.. Nobody will look twice at it.. The cops won't even notice it sound wise..

Second.. I have 5% tint on all my windows, and the Roush off-road exhaust... I just went thru inspection 2 days ago.. Nobody said a single word about the tint or the exhaust.

The Roush Offroad sytem is simply a name. It is stainlees steel. You take off the factory muffler at the inlet pipe and replace from there back. All stainless. It passes inspection in Johnson County at the Ford house.

It's been said before but the Roush system is not a true "off road" exhaust. It is only a name. It will pass inspections .It will not garner any unwanted attention. It will sound kick-***.

Flowmaster makes an "off road" version of their mufflers but they are not illegal and like the Roush it's only a name.

As for the law about tampering with exhaust being illegal; if that was enforced then half of Texas would be fined/in jail.

Do you even know what a ROR exhaust is? I'll give you one hint: catback.

If it is not a true off road exhaust then my bad. When it said offroad I took it to be exactly what it said. That is probably why you guys keep saying it is not loud. A true off road exhaust will blow you out. I did kinda enjoy seeing Stealth get all defensive like a little kid. LOL. Don't go and get all upset on me.
