AF1 or Tune?
AF1 or Tune?
Just got my Magnaflow exhaust, and itching for mod number 2. I have to do these all seperate since I'm incapable of saving money. Should I go with the AF1 intake first (the 3" which doesn't require a tune and I have an 03) so I can send in my info when I order the tunes or get the tune first? Pro's Con's?
Either one should make you smile... the tune is nice becuse it also firms up your shifts, and allows for a lot more than a simple breathing mod. The intake is nice in that it is pretty under your hood, and makes that addicting roar under heavy throttle input... plus it's cheaper.
If you have the money for either, get the intake and save for the tune. I think it takes a while to get Troyer tunes, I am not sure how it works for payment though.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable.
I am in the spot where I am not sure if I would rather re-gear, or get an Intake, longtubes, exhaust, e-fan, and a tune. These 3.55 gears and 35's are not playing well together.

I know the tune will give me the most gain, I'm just thinking that if I get the CAI first, then I can send the exhaust and intake info in along with my order for the tunes.
As far as the SB filter, just looked it over. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between any CAI system. I'm just going with the advice of the masters of the forum. I'm leaning AF1 since I'll probly get my tunes from them also. But I'm also a mechanical idiot, so the installation scares me.

I dont see how the AF1 can really outperform S&B when AF1 uses the S&B filters. And as far as dynos go, you can skew numbers very easily on a dyno... I like to see dyno charts for comparison, but what was the difference between AF1 and S&B? 1-2 hp? You could dyno the same truck 3 times and get 3 different hp readings. Also, was it the same truck that had both intakes, on the same dyno, the same day?
Why not just order the tunes and you can send in the info for the exhaust and intake with the order. Then by the time two or 3 months rolls around and you get your tunes you could have saved up and have gotten the intake already. If it's the XcalIII you can just run the canned tunes in the meantime.
