Got a problem.

My local shop wont cut my cats off my truck and replac it with pipe. The only reason is because of emisions. What should I do? I can get the pipe and run it myself, I have a welder and all the tools to do this project. If I cut the 2 rear cats, will I risk throwing a code?

If there are 02 sensors on the cats, Yes, you will throw a code.

If you ever own the truck in an area where they do emissions inspections, you will have to replace them. happened to me years ago. Not cheap.

will the shop add a flanges so that they do not "remove" the cats, you can claim for "off road only" and bolt on a straight pipe when you are "off road"

Agreed. Just with true duals I've got cops eyeing me too often to be comfy. I live right down the street from a police station so I keep it under 2K until I hit the highway.

I had hooker headers with no cats, no muffler true duals. No nothing but pipe straight from the engine. Got about 5 pipe tickets, the cops were always on the lookout for me, even had one tell me they had a call out for a "loudass white z71 with a duckhead sticker on the back glass"

The main reason they won't cut ur cats off is because it isn't older than 10years. After 10 years I believe the vehicle can be modded like that. Its a law here in NYS that shops cannot touch emissions equipment until the vehicle has aged to past 10 years. So the one dude told me anyway.
