edge of my pipes are begining to rust, how can i stop it

I had some dual flowmaster's put on a couple months ago. Recently ive noticed a little bit of rust starting to build up right inside the pipes. I keep the outside cleaned and polished and keep the insides wiped down w/ a rag as much as i can but i guess rain water still gets up in there. Any suggestions on what to do to keep this from happening?

Unfortunately FLOWMASTERS systems are only aluminized and will rust..You can try to scotchBRITE pad it but it will come back...

I'm assuming these are your tips. What you could do is take the tips off and clean them till they are spotless. Then take the blue painter's tape and tape off the outside of the tip. Assuming the inside is clean and no rust is left, put some paint such as POR? I believe that is the paint, but I am not 100% sure. People use it on frames and it stops and prevents rust. Hopefully someone can chime in with the correct name for the paint.

I get my truck rust treated in Canada don't worry about rust. Its really the only product proven to stop rust that I've found.

BBQ Paint works fine, but header paint has a much higher temperature rating and tends to last a little longer. The exhaust tips dont get all that hot, but they get pretty hot... I used header paint and painted my whole exhaust... It looks alot better underneath, and it protects the aluminized tubing from rust...

A few years ago back in my boating days I had a Scarab Panther with two 454 big blocks. It had "thru hull" exhaust with chrome tips. One trick we learned to keep these tips sparkling was to use a product called "The Works". It is a fiberglass cleaner used in bathrooms on tubs and stuff. Anyway, this stuff takes all 'rainbow' effects and eliminates them on contact. Rust on the other hand is another story. Once it starts, it is pretty much there for good unless ground out to clean metal.
