Replaced front O2 sensors, now a CEL
I replaced the O2 sensors on my 99 F150 with 140k about a week ago. The light first came on after the first 25 miles of driving with the new sensors. I took the truck to have the codes read and basically the front driver’s side oxygen sensor wasn't registering. I thought (...and hoped) I hadn't plugged in the sensor properly so I took it home and made sure everything was snug. Reset the computer and I was on my way. Drove 275 miles in one trip and the CEL hadn't come on. I figured I didn't plug in the sensor all the way and my problem was over.
I start my truck and back out of the driveway and BAM! The light comes back on. Awesome. I have the codes read again and its the same problem. The drivers side front oxygen sensor isn't reading. As a matter of fact, neither is the rear drivers side oxygen sensor but the code was only for the front. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact code...perhaps P0130..?? The reading on the scanner was 0.0% for the driver’s side and 0.7% for the passenger side.
I've spoken to a few people about the problem and one said to replace the driver’s side front sensor because it's defective. It's defiantly a possibility but that would be too easy. The other person said to replace the rear sensors and that should fix the problem. This sounds like a good idea but I would like to double check with everyone here before I shell out another $90.
