What the hell is there for a 2007?

OK, Summit Racing FINALLY has my order as shipped! I got the AIRAID 400-140-2 Intake. I had the AEM Brute Force on order for over 3 months, and I gave up on it, so I canceled it and ordered the AirAid from Summit about 3 weeks ago! Finally they are shipping it!!! I have tried everywhere for an intake that is specifically for the 2007's. AF1 does NOT have one (called and talked with TP), AEM does not have one and K&N does not have one... no one has one...only AirAid / Rouch so that's that one I went with. My big question is...WHAT THE HELL HAS CHANGED FROM 2006 to 2007???? TP was telling me that the placement of the MAF sensor has changed, which in turn changed the intake and the program there of... But when I look at it, It may be all of about 3/8" difference (if that) from a 2006 intake to a 2007 intake. Can that make that much of a difference??? How many people out there have intakes on there 2007 F150's and what kind do you have???

Also, Why can't I find ANYTHING else for a 2007? As in Brakes, Rotors, running boards, ect.... (I know...it's cause it's too new...right... but seriously, how much could have passably changed from 2006 to 2007)?????

I think you should order some custom written tunes to go with your intake... It naturally takes the intake manufacturers a while to design for changes..

It's probably not only the MAF position that's different but also probably the mounting points..

Mount that sucker up and enjoy it, but also take it to a reputable shop that can dyno and measure your A/F ratios to be sure you aren't running the engine lean.. not getting a cel doesn't mean you're doin' fine..

I am in the midst of ordering a CA2 and some custom tunes from TP. Once I receive my intake I will hop on it, But until then I have the Edge, my Flowmaster Exhaust and some 93 octane.

Strange..I have a 3" Air Force 1 from Troyer on my 2007 F150 5.4 and it works great! The stock MAF mounted right up as did the vacuum line. I was even told that I could have had a 3.5" but since this is a daily driver I gave in to the "no hassle" approach to eliminate swapping back and forth with stock setup. I will have my tunes in a few weeks and will be set.

Congrats on your purchase!
Now just be prepared for the droning while around 1600-2000rpm range. I bought mine before doing some research. I really love the look of the airaid setup but can't stand the droning noise, while driving in that rpm range. It seems to be even worse in the summertime while on the highway with my a/c going.

Why the daily hassle?

Just trying to figure out the difference between the AF1 3" and 3.5" (other than the 3.5" needing a tune).

Ramnj.... I was told that you cannot run the 3.5" unit on a stock tuned truck. In the event that you need service the dealer would want your truck to be at stock programming in order to diagnos problems(under warranty). My experience with new vehicles (I have 1000mi, bought in Oct07) is that I will need to see the dealer for something and its always when your out of town. If you have to retune to stock(I will keep the SCT in the truck) you will have to put your stock air unit back on and I did not want to stress over having a problem and not having the stock air setup with me. I was also told that in order to get the benefit of the 3.5" unit you would need to dyno your vehicle in order to fine tune your A/F settings. A tech at TP told me we were only talking in the neighborhood of 4 to 6 horsepower between the two. The other is the thought that there would be less droning from the smaller unit. I use the truck for daily driving and towing, so I am not using WOT 99.3376% of the time.

WTF is the difference between the 400-140-1 that I have on my 07 and the 400-140-2 that you have? I have the droaning too. It really sucks. I am trying to return it and I am interested in getting another one. I can't decide. The AF1 sounds good but I'd like to get it locally incase it makes a terrible sound too.I have tried mine with an evo and without...makes NO difference at all. Any thoughts on a 63 or 77 series of K&N ?

One model is for trucks built after January 2007. The other model is for 2007 model year trucks sold in 2006. I found out about the differences when I had to return a grille guard. Imagine assembling it, then finding out it doesn't fit after you're halfway through the installation. You have to take everything back off and take all the pieces apart so that you can ship it back.

I'm not sure what kind of accessories you're looking for. I was able to obtain bolt-on nerf bars & a grille guard from Go Rhino!. Tonneau covers fit. Troyer writes tunes. You can have any muffler you want; just pick one out & have a muffler shop cut out your OEM and weld on the new one. Those little trees on the mirrors come in more than one color now.

I'm not sure of the exact differences, but I can tell you that I'm not having the droning problem that you guys are describing. Maybe something that they changed between the two part numbers was to reduce the droning.

I know what you mean, I ordered a set of nerf bars from Summit for my truck. They said they were for a 2007 and they were nice! Stainless steel that was powder coated black and they mounted directly to the frame rather than the body like most do. Well needless to say, the 2007's don't have the mounting holes on the frame like my buddies 2006 does, and I did not want to drill the frame. I had to return them (costing me $60 for return shipping). I got a set from 4 Wheel Parts made by Smitty Built and they fit like a glove, but they mount to the body and aren't stainless, just powder coated black.

Summit carries both the 63 and the 77 series exhausts and i think they are both in stock

I have the 63 series-bought it at summit in september went right on no problems and do not have the "droaning" sound everybody speaks of-hear a light whistle sound at around 1600-2000 rpm but nothing loud enough to be annoying
