Well, got my AFI through Troyer last week and found some time to install today.

I am not a "car guy" having worked on cars/truck very little. For those not sure about the installation it is as easy as others on this forum say. Take your time and treat things gently and all goes well. The hardest part for me was to get the "boot" fully seated on the throttle body intake....

For those that have this setup....when I turn the truck off I hear a "hissing" sound, almost like a back pressure or pressure release from the AF1. Is this normal...?

hissing is normal. mine does the same thing

 

Mine has the hissing when I turn the truck off. I have everything stock on the truck.

 

Did you notice anything in the way of performance or fuel economy. Mine is coming this week some time . Buddy going to pick it up in Buffalo for me were i had it delivered. Cant wait to put it in and try it out.

 

Just put my K&N Series-77 on today. I also have a hissing when the engine shuts off. The first time I shut the truck off I panicked a lil but then remembered a firend told me not to worry if I heard a hiss. Freaking love the sound of my engine now. Sounds like a V8. I can definately say it helps economy. Lets say you have maybe 1/2 inch (just guessin) of pressure on the pedal to maintain 70 mph on the highway, well with this, 1/2 inch of pressure will put you around 85. I was doing 87 before I noticed myself and slowed down on my way to work.

So you require less pressure to maintain the same speed. Comprende? Mine was well worth the $202... Only took 30 minutes (excluding the 25 minutes to put the rubber tubing around the heat shield, but I did that the night before when I had nothing else to do.) Dad even likes it now and he was opposed to me buying it in the first place. He even had a big grin when he pulled in!

Irish FX4, why are you ordering an AF1 if you have a K&N? Or is that just a filter?

 

Irish FX4. Just installed it today so I haven't really had a chance to check any changes in mileage. I do love the new sound though....

Almost has a turbo quality sound....when the turbo is spooling. Wish it had the same effect on the power output though. I guess I'll just have to wait and order a custom tune.
