New truck exhaust Q's from new member
New truck exhaust Q's from new member
Howdy all, new member here. Going to be home after a long time overseas and have priced out my new truck, an '08 Supercab 5.4L 4x4. Have also been all around looking for good exhaust systems. Settled in on #16616 Maggie dual side out. Seen alot of people here running it and happy. How was the instal, any problems? Is it firm or does it bounce around alot (ie too much sway)? I also will replace with Maggie high flow cats. Do I need 4 or 2? I heard there were 4 cats on the trucks, but see some people only running 2. If so, what do you do with 2 extra O2's? Tap them inline on 2.5" pipe near original location of stock cats? Or somehow delete them?
I also want to install headers. I know long tube is the way to go, but have seen the Banks Torque Tubes...are they long or shorties? Anyone running these? If it's a bad choice, what is a good long tube to go with the Maggie cats and exhaust system? How is the install, better to have a shop do it or is there plenty of room for a backyard mech to do it? Any header info would be great as far as brands, qualities, install difficulties/ease, etc.
Off topic I already ordered the Banks Ram Air intake, Hella blackout headlights :
Elegante led tails : (http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts.as..._prod_ids=3014)
And the Hypertech Max Energy Programmer.
Basically I'm looking to have some fun with my new rig, and I think the intake/exhaust system I chose is a decent one. I've previously owned a 99 F-150 XLT and an 86 F-250 HD 351W, so I'm relatively experienced with my Ford trucks! Sorry for the long post, but I value all the experiences of the members here to help out fellow Ford owners. Thanks guys and gals!
