What is the best way to eliminate the cats. Do you just put a pipe in there and weld it on or do you have to just hollow them. Is that all stainless or what?

If I hollow them instead of putting new pipe in will I have any performance problems? If so what is the best way to do it. By the way no we do not have emissions testing where I live.

 

And one more q. Are all 4 of those things on the 1999 5.4's cats or are they two resonators in the front 2 cats in the back. Can I remove the resonators instead of the cats?

 

I can tell you that I have no idea how to eliminate them without buying what is called a MIL eliminater to hook up to your O2 sensors because you can not just take and get rid of the O2 sensors it will send a code and make your check engine light come on. Also it will f**k with your computer and give you terrible performance and gas mileage. So the only way I know of is to get those eliminaters as I stated b4.

 

I know that your best best is either to get rid of the resonators or to hollow out your cats. This will open up alot of pressure that is built up by the hardware inside the cat. Hollowing out your cat is somewhat like putting aftermarket headers because stock headers back up alot of pressure that needs to be free. This causes power loss which can be easily fixed.

 

 

isnt the 02 sensor behind the cat though anyway. I was wanting to cut the cats out since they are WELDED in, but a piece of larger diameter pipe and slip it on mkae slits in it and clamp it in. And by the way is the cats to the headers stainless or what kind of metal is it.

 

I need to know the best way to do it if im going to hollow it out. What should I use to cut it out. How should I get it back in w/o leaking?
