From all I've heard and read it's true. Has to do with the way they design their mufflers.. They use internal baffles to amplify the sound, so they ARE loud.. but it's not the correct design to make an increase in hp or torque.

Yup - but 50's got silly little bafffles too, y'know. Even more of 'em, because they're quieter.

Don't worry too much about old Bubba - it'a all good. You happy? It's what counts.

So it seems to be the concencus that Flows cost you torque while Maggies can gain you some. Its pretty small in either case, so some people notice it more than others. Is there any data on which flows lose the least amount; 40, 44, 50, etc?

I've always been a Flowmaster guy and I'm trying to convince myself to get a Maggie for my truck, but I much prefer the sound of a flowmaster. Are we talking 1-2 ft-lbs or 10-12 ft-lbs of loss?

its an exhaust system, your not gonna lose substantial amounts of power. maybe a couple ponies at most. anything flows better them stock. the super44 has the least amount of baffles and is the best flowing muffler they have. it sure sounds d@mn good too

if you want an alternative, check out the dynomax bullets. they are loud, and flow better then any magnaflow. i might be switching to true dual bullets when i get a chance. but for now, im fine with the super44.
