flowmaster vs. dynomax

ok im doing a true dual exhaust setup... and i wanted to know what you all think I should do as far as mufflers, options are.... 2 dynomax bullets or 2 flowmaster 40 series, I want a deep tone and for it to be loud and not have a ton of drone for my 07 Scab 4x4 5.4

Thanks,
Russ

Dynomax flows better I believe, but both will have "drone". I don't imagine it would be unbareable, I'd go Dynomax.

Go with the Dynomax Bullets.Atleast they are straight through design.
Choose the Flow 40's and your truck will run like a 2 legged dog Seriously they suck,i used to have true duels with 40's!!

dont exagerate kevin. exhaust systems arent going to make or break your truck, you might get a couple ft lbs less torque with flowmaster then with dynomax, but its not that noticeable. flowmaster also sounds 3x better the the straight throughs: the tone is just plain sweeter. i do plan to switch at some point though, so im not repping flowmaster or anything, just dont exagerate.

to the OP: dynomax will flow better then flowmaster, and the bullets will flow better then just about any muffler out there. its all up to you. if your looking for the best tone, flowmaster is hard to beat. if you do decide flows, go with the 44s over the 40s. they drone a lot less.

I am serious!!When i had true duels with flow 40's my truck would not get out of its own way until the RPM's were up above 4,000!!I switched mufflers and the difference is amazing in low end with no other changes
The Flows seemed to switch the power band way up in the RPM's on my truck

If you don't believe me maybe built54 will chime in and say what flows did to his truck!! He has had like 20 exhaust systems and numerous Flowmasters.

im not denying that flows have worse airflow then the straight throughs, your absolutely right there. im switching soon too but its not "omg you lose 100 hp with flows" no not at all. maybe the old 2v 5.4s dont like them? i gained power when i added my exhaust system. when im climbing hills at elevation my low end pulls great, and im running the stock tune also. maybe mine is different from your old 40 series, but my friend had maggies put on his stock 06 and honestly you cant FEEL a difference. sure sounds different though.

I think you raise a good point there with it affecting the 2 valve more than the 3.The only place my truck seemed to gain was way up in the RPM's.It downshifted more and didn't gain speed until you downshifted it.
Like i said i had the 40 series. What most are saying on here is that the 50 series works alright.I am not aware of the 44's.I just know the 40's don't work well at all on the 2 valves!!
Another example....switched from stock exhaust to true duels with flow 40's and my truck would not even squeel the tires anymore. It had all it could do to spin for a few feet on wet roads with them.I switched mufflers and it spins them better on dry roads than what it ever did on wet roads with the flows.
Most of the complaints with true duels and Flows are with the 2 valves so they may not like them???I dunno...
To the OP since most complaints are with the 2 valve and you have a 3 if you don't like the flows you could always switch! The Flows do sound pretty bad a$$ though!!!
