Unhappy Roush Cold air intake

I just recently put a new Roush Cold air intake on my 06 5.4 Screw. After driving I am not really impressed. When I take off from a stop the truck fall on it's face. it bogs and then really goes. Do I need an exhaust to get my bottom end back? there in none there now. Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like it could be running lean. The bogging and falling on its face also points towards that IMO.
Are there any air leaks???Are you sure everything is in the proper place??
Did you diconect the battery for a full re boot of the computer??
You may need a tune!!

you need to re-tune that truck it is a known issue with 04-07 trucks Any improved air to engine = lean

It is my experience that many intakes have a larger diameter tube than stock, this raises the rpm at which peak torque occurs (Helmholtz Resonance theory, wikipedia it). This means that you lose low end and gain high end horsepower. This is a general statement and is not true of all aftermarket intakes.

As for the comments about running lean, you can take your truck to a dyno shop and they can run tests with a wideband O2 sensor and they will tell you without a doubt if you are running lean...not just a few forum guys guessing (including me ).

Kevin's most probably right.... has all the signs.

Are you going to do any more "performance" mods?

If so, wait until you're complete with all the work and get a custome tune.

If not, get one now.

Try sending the good folks at Roush an email about your concerns.... they're very helpfull.

Good luck.

It will definitely make a difference. The reason for disconnecting the negative on the battery is that is forces a reset of the ECU, and the mass airflow sensor.

Once you disconnect the battery, wait a few, and the reconnect. I would probably check all of the connections of your Roush CAI just to be sure everything is still snug/where it should be, etc..

Go for a drive! Your MAS should now be reset.

I'm surprised the instructions didn't tell you to do this...

I recall doing that on my K&N at first I was like wtf for? but then I realized it was to reset the ECU and the MAF sensor. Try doing that and let us know.

I tried disconnecting. Still have not noticed any difference. I guess I will try a tune up! I have checked all the connections everything looks and feels tight I will keep an update thanks everyone.

disconect both battery terminals for 15-30 minutes!!!!
Also a tune up will not fix a lean condition if that is the problem.I am just guessing.Like toorqueaholic said get the A/F ratios cheeacked.
If it is running lean the only fix is custom tuning!!!A off the shelf tuner will not fix it.It is not cool to run the motor lean

One thing before you take her in for a tune up..

Make sure that your MAF sensor is oriented in the same position as it was on your stock intake. It has to be in the same position.

The problems you're describing sound like the MAF being in the wrong alignment.

Might not throw a CEL, but will make the engine run like a dog.
