X pipe w/ true duals

I saw that 03FX4F150 has the x pipe w/ true duals. I have true duals. Is the x pipe good for sound, back pressure or what? Please let me know a little about it...

The main thing i noticed after installing an X-Pipe was it sounded meaner and alot better tone.It really helps balance the system out and increase power (not enough to feel)
Cheack what your measurements are in between the pipes on yours. My measurements were all different from the X so i had to re-do everything again Also put the X-Pipe as close to the cats as you can to improve velocity. If you look in my gallery i have a pic of my exhaust with the X-Pipes measurement.
What size pipe do u have??

X pipe

The X pipe is good for all those,it scavenges the exhaust out of the engine,it also equalizes the back pressure like an H pipe does and gives you that nice rumble @ idle that you only get when you run an X pipe.I run a Bassani X on my truck w/ Magnaflow mufflers and I love the sound I get @ idle and on the highway. The X is the way to go.Hope this helped.

Thanks for the info! I might check into an x pipe. I think my pipes are 2.25" OD, but I'm not sure, I would have to measure. I found the magnaflow x pipe for $88 online. Does this sound like a good price. Maybe the muffler shop won't charge too much to install it unless they have to redo everything because my existing pipes are not the correct width apart to accomodate the x pipe. Oh well, I'll be thinking about it. I'm getting 305/70/17 Buckshots put on today so that's really why I'm thinking of things to help with power or torque since I'll be pulling larger tires.

What size are your original tires? If they were dinky (mine came 235/70-16's with 3.31 gears) your money might be better spent on gears than another exhaust. It will reduce the stress on everything as both the engine and tranny will have to work harder to turn the bigger tires with the stock gearing. It isn't a cheap fix but it is the right one.

My truck came with the 5.4 motor and 265/70/17 tires. I think the gears are something like 3.56 geras. I'm not worried about the gears I just was looking for some exhaust performance.

I thought you were worried about loosing power with the bigger tires and gears will fix that probably better than an exhaust. 3.55's with a 5.4 probably won't be too bad though, not ideal but liveable.

An exhaust won't give you as much power as some would like to think, esp since you already have lost the huge stock muffler.

Here are the pictures of my truck with true duals and an X-pipe:

The two Magna Flows keep the sound down to a easy level when cruising with the family and it still sounds loud when you want. However, the biggest performance gain was when I added the Airforce 1 intake. It did more for the power in the truck than the exhaust by a large margin. The exhaust made it sounds better, but the intake really helped it get up and move faster.

Of course ,the Troyer Performance tuning topped it off several months later and I have not done anything since.

I replied to the forum from KR-Texas link of his truck which is like a year old, sorry. Nice setup. I've been asking questions about putting a x pipe in with my existing true duals. Some recommend the Magnaflow x pipe. Did the muffler shop make your x pipe? If so I might get one here to do the same. How much did the x pipe cost?

I just cheacked out that other thread and the exhaust shop did make that X-Pipe.I doubt there are very many shops that can do that nice of work.I would just buy it IMO
