1999 Rear diff cover torque specs

I got a 1999 f150 XLT 4X4 and was wondering if anyone had the torque specs for the rear differential cover?

tight but not too tight

I just changed my gear oil in the rear end and just tighten the bolts up by feel, I've actually never torqued rear cover bolts, just make em tight with a 3/8" rachet, no need to really crank them down suoer tight....

x4 ^^^ differentials aren't really "high pressure" either, just gears sloshing around in heavy oil.

The cover is stamped steel and will warp if you're too heavy on the wrench. If in doubt, it's better to fail on the loose side and clean up a small seep later on than to crank it down too tight and end up having to buy a new cover.

Also, if you're using silicone gasket sealer, be sure to give the sealer time to cure before filling the diff, otherwise you'll end up with a leak.

Good luck!
