I'm looking for one but can't decide on what kind. I'll probably be going through some high water and mud again and I'd like to know what the preference for those kinds of situations.

just get something with a heat shield that seals to the hood. i used to offroad my truck and you can see where the heat shield came in contact with the hood (like its supposed to do) because the area around it was dirty and the area where the air filter sat was clean.

im running an afe stage 2. one of the cheaper intakes and im happy with it.

I'm going to fab up a removable housing for my AF1 sometime later down the road... On for offroading, off for everyday driving.

S&B. It is covered so i am always fairly certain that it is protected from the massive amounts of mud and water flying through the air.

Here is a truck that went through some light mudding, you can see how the enclosure protects the filter from heat and mud. A few companies make sealed intakes now: S&B, Outlaw Power, Banks Power, AFE. The only "oilless filter" sealed intakes are from AFE and Outlaw Power.

My buddy had an AEM and it got pretty dirty every time we went mudding. I'm sure i can use my S&B for a hundred races with light cleaning, but that is beyond the point. I'm sure you can use AEM for 5 races, is it smart.............
