Af1 3.5 with heat shield???

Would I get any power gain if I install some kind of heat shield under my AF1 3.5. Or am I just wasting my time installing a shield. Or maybe heat shield wrap around AF1.

I don't think it would improve perfomance much, if any.. I suppose it serves to block some heat, but the more I look at mine the more I think it's mainly there to deflect water / dirt, etc... sure couldn't hurt to put one on though I think..

The AF1 has gone through many miles and hours of R&D'ing before being released for sale. There is nothing you can do to enhance its efficency, so therefore you are right in assuming that you would be wasting your time.
There have been several discussions, and many turning quite heated on the "open filter", "closed filter" theroy, as well as the 'plastic tube" , "Stainless tube" heat disipation theroy. I will not open that can or worms again.."Leave it the way it is"....

thanks for the advice. I'll leave it alone.the reason i was thinking of this because they claim plastic less heat conductor then metal. I hope I said that right

You can make a shield to prevent the filter from getting muddied.

Here is a pic of a housing getting muddy but not the filter.
