Muffler Only.

I have a 98 f150 with 130,000 miles on it. Just wondering for short change about changing my stock muffler with Magnaflow 14" or 18". Has anyone done just the muffler around this mileage. I just want a little louder then stock. Also what can i expect to pay for the install. Just want to make sure they don't take me for a ride. Thanks

Alot of people do this, go right ahead, They will weld it in and connect it to your stock tip, or for an increased sound dump it. It wont hurt to add a custom muffler with that much mileage, & IMO $50 - $100 should be the range to install the muffler, anymore is too much & anyless you dont afford to turn down :thumb:

I am about to do the same thing, but I dont have that many miles. I have just under 10,000 on my 05. I was quoted $100 installed for a single in single out Flowmaster 40.

i cut out the stock muffler on my 1997 4.6 and replaced it with a flowmaster40. Everything was about $75 and it made a huge difference but still not loud enough for me.

I put this on at about 126000 and it now has 140000 miles. no clamps because i tried to take it off one time. Time to bust out the sawz-all. It has gotten a little rust but its only surface rust. Had to buy an 18" pipe from pepboys then cut it to length to complete the install. I would recommend doing this if your on a budget because you can achieve the sound your looking for. Im gonna try a turn down, and if thats not good enough ill try straight pipes. Not loud enough for me.

I just did a muffler only replacement about a week ago. I put in a Flowmaster 10 series si/so on my 03 F-150 supercab 4x4 Flareside w/5.4L and welded the stock corner piece and tip to make the turndown and angled it about 45degrees toward the outside. It sounds like a truck ought to sound, awesome, low, rumbling idle, then at take off it it's a really loud low growl. I love it, I can't stress enough the super low rumbling tone. I'll try to get some sound clips in if I can in the next week or so.

Chop out your pre-cats & weld in 2.5" piping in its place, all the pre-cats do is steal your roar.
