97 exhaust location

I've got a 97 Scab short bed with stock exhaust. It exits in front of the right rear wheel. I like the way this looks, but am worried about the wheel corrosion I've read about in a few posts. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I may have a little bit of the corrosion already, with what looks like little spots of rust forming on stock rims.

If I have to reroute the exhaust, is it worth spending a few more dollars to get a performance muffler? Thanks.

Kevin

Sorry, first day here. I guess I should have put this in the OEM exhaust board.

Kevin I have the same truck and when I got it I also noticed the same thing. Knowing that I would change the exhaust anyways I never really thought about it. If you do decide to change things out a little bit I'm sure you'll be pretty happy. I like loud, mean sounding trucks, so I went with the flowmaster 40 with 3" pipes and 3 1/2"tips. It's pretty loud and you don't see alot of power gain, and if you do alot of highway driving, you may not want something so loud. If you really like the look coming infront of the wheels I'd suggest maybe the magnaflow si/so with a nice dual tip exiting infront of the wheels. I think they look really sharp. It's also got a real nice tone, not to loud but you still know it's there. Just my .02
