exhaust upgrade

I have a 97 f150 extended cab shortbox with the 4.6. I have a flowmaster 40 series 2 1/2 inch in and out dumped. Not very happy with the power loss. Read Troyers article on magnaflow's catback very interesting. I do not have that kind of money though but i can fabricate just about any thing. Has anyone used the magnaflow 4"x 14" round muffler with 3" inlet and outlet or any other 3" magnaflow muffler, and exited in front of the rear wheel? If so how does it sound and did it make the acceleration smoother? Has your mileage changed? I ask this because i tow a 2500 pound camper and i'm looking for a little more grunt in the hills.

I'm not running muffler your asking about, but I do have a SIDO Magnaflow. Definately picked up some HP & TQ, better throttle response and almost 1.5 MPG to boot. I got my system installed locally for $240 with mandrel bent pipe.

Not sure on the size or model #. I just went & told the guy I wanted a Magnaflow. It's not super loud, but it's definately got some growl. I would say it's an 18". The tubing is 2.5".

Ive got a dynomax bullet dumped, and noticed a little gain. I dont ever want to own a vehicle truck duals under the rear end. especially SI/DO. I mean no disrespect for those who have it, its just not the look like to have on my truck.
