CAIs' worth it

OK, now i've been waiting for any manufacturer to produce an intake for my truck as it's an 07 with the 4.6. But the more I think about the subject, the more I fail to see the cost to benefit ratio being worth it. I've really looked my stock intake over hard and the only weak point on it I see is the bottle neck that happens right at the entrance(the piece that attaches to the fender). It looks to be smaller in diameter than the rest of the piping. Now, maybe in the past, the intake plumbing was fairly inneficient but it looks like the manufacturer has now tried to address these issues because the piping on my truck gets from the air cleaner to the throttle body about as quickly and smoothly as possible.(Don't see how it could be better) Now as for the Air cleaner, the only weakness is the fender intake. So if you were to just improve the opening there so as to let the thing take a bigger gulp of air, maybe enlarge it and run a fresh air hose down into the grill area, I think you would be achieving the same if not better results as all the aftermarket stuff. Plus still protecting your filter and not having to listen to the thing whistle or suck. RIGHT?

Worth it?.... YES

Value is not just measured in horepower and torque, but in response, smoothness and even looks.

A CAI will give you that AND add some horses in the process.

Not hearing the "suck" doesn't mean it's not there, it means there is a bunch of cheap plastic making it harder to flow and also muffling the sound.

You cannot beat a mandrel-bent pipe for reduction of flow friction and improved performance. Everyone has a favorite, but they are all value-added.

P.S. My favorite is AF1
