But when you are driving down the road you have a lot of air moving over that open filter...

true... Im not saying volant is the best, but im sure the open would make more power in most conditions, just not when driving around town during a hot day under 20mph... I guess it depends on how, where, and when you drive.

I have said this before and will say it again, we DID test them both with the hood down, no fan, and ambient air well into the 90's and the AF1 STILL out performed the Volant and several others. I wish you were closer so you could attend one of the dyno events because I would prove this to you. Then if you still didn't believe what your eyes and the data showed, I would buy you what ever intake outperformed the AF1....pretty sure of myself wouldn't you say???

sounds like it. How much hp and torque difference was there in the volant and AF1? hood up and hood down?

The last time I was at a dyno day there was a few trucks with the same mods except the intakes and the trucks with the AF1 all made more power and TQ, than the trucks with the Volant, I think the guy with the Volant name was FX4METOO check him out, He will tell you.

Man, I sure wish I could go to this upcoming dyno day to get my data logging done. But I think the last time I calculated it I was looking at 15+ hours from Houston.

Website Typo

I checked out the website to the AF1 and I must say it does look impressive.... but why do they refer to the 4.6L as a V6?? Someone needs to correct that!

I also noticed they use S&B Filters, up to now the new version of the S&B Intake is my main contender of the two and I will soon be making a decision (once they come out with the 4.6L version that is) keep the input flowing!

I wouldn't put crap like that on my truck if I were paid to. No Way. If it seems too good to be true... It almost always is!!!

I like the looks of this new S&B system as well. The new enclosed Outlaw cold air intake system also looks interesting and is half the price of the new S&B system. The optional dry filter media they're offering also looks interesting. It would be great to see a detailed shootout between these two new intakes and the AF1 that gave flow numbers, air intake temperatures inside the tube, air / fuel ratios, dyno comparisons, 0 to 60 testing, ISO 5011 testing, etc.

I would put about any of the brand name intakes on mine right now as none of the manufacturers have developed or will be developing for some time a system for the 07's with the 4.6L.

I've talked to Airaid, AF1, AEM, S & B, and K & N and have gotten similar responses from all... Not for months.

I think they're probably waiting to see if the new throttle body configuration is going to be here to stay or just an early 07 thing. (cant blame them)
o
Somebody with Airaid's tech dept. actually told me the other day that the improved intake tubes included in all these CAI kits actually does little or nothing to add power. That it's all about the good filter and getting more air volume through that filter.

So...I ask what would be wrong with doing as another member here did a couple months ago and running a fresh air hose out from the stock housing to up the available air volume??? I already have a AEM filter in there.

Somebody please shoot this idea full of holes!!!
