where do u need the inlet and outlet for mufflers?
where do u need the inlet and outlet for mufflers?
im looking at replacing my stock muffler with a magnaflow or flowmaster. im looking at the super 40 or 50 series and a 5x8x18in(the size in the kit for my truck?) magnaflow. my question is where should the inlet and outlet be. im replacing the stock muffler so its going to have to be a si/so but should they be in the center, one left one right...etc? i have a 97 with a 5.4
I installed a Magnaflow, part # 11266 in place of my factory exhaust just a few days ago. I have a 1998 w/5.4. If fit fine, all I had to do is add a piece of pipe about 12" long to make up the difference in lenght. It only took me about an hour and cost $80.00 total. I love the sound, nice rumble but not too loud. If you want more noise go with a shorter one. The 11266 is a 5X9 oval and is 24" overall. Good luck with yours!!!
I think he meant offset vs centered for a direct muffler replacment only, Well I bought a Super 40 with the inlet offset to the right, and the outlet centered for the dump off tip. I believe this will be the best install with the stock muffler inlet being offset to the right.
thanks ws6. thats what i was asking about. Hawk did those hangers on the back of the muffler come on it? i know they come on it if u get the whole kit but i want just the muffler so will i have to have somebody put them on for me? What length muffler did other magnaflow people go with? Most people ive heard go with 18" long.
