Thumbs up Magnaflow - Flowmaster - Gibson?

2005 - F150 supercrew Lariat.

I have been reading with great interest the Exhaust debates, but, i'm still not sure which one to get.
I want to take it somewhere get them to take the exhaust off and put all 3 on loose so i can decide which one. Anyone know who would do this?

I want a dual exhaust, and i've got it narrowed down ( i think) to Flowmaster 17418 / Magnaflow 16614 / Gibson 69520

VIP auto Want $560.00 fitted for the Flowmaster / $542.00 fitted for the Magnafow/ $620.00 fitted for the Gibson.

Is this a good price for a fitted system?

READING SOME OF THE EXHAUST DEBATES I'M NOW LEANING TO THE FLOWMASTER SUPER 40 - I THINK. - IWANT IT LOUD AND NICE V8 BURBLE!

+ How do i get my truck pic to come up with my message.? (forget that LOL) got there in the end!

THANKS GUYS........ AND GIRLS rocker:

I had too much drone with the Flows on my last truck. I went with Magnaflow on this truck. It sounded great. No drone at highway speed. A little drone at 2k when cold, went away once fully warm. Low, deep rumble at idle and normal cruising around. Really wakes up when you get on it.

Gibson tends to be a the quieter of the 3.

I had my exhaust done locally for $240 for the SIDO muffler and mandrel bent pipe. I purchased SS tips for $60. All he had was cheap chrome.

$300 for all.

No Gibson for the 4.6L or 5.4Ls, not worth it, thats for the V6s.

That Flowmaster kit seems way overpriced in my opinion, you can buy the kit for a little over $200 and have a shop install it for maybe under $100.

The price for ther Magnaflow sounds accurate though, Magnaflow is all stainless steel so it will last for years and years, like you will have it on your next truck maybe. and if you do towing ( or plan to ) you may want side exit tips. It guides the exhaust fumes away from whatever you are towing, straight out the back it could discolor your trailer that you wouldbe pulling.

Flowmaster vs Magnaflow

Flowmaster has been known to rob/lack some power a little bit but I love the sound & think its worth it since I am not towing or working my truck hard. Flowmaster does not offer stainless steel piping anymore so it could last 4 or 5 years max. and Flowmaster 40s have been known to drone alot and some people hate that. Although the 50 series mufflers are a bit quieter and give very little drone and wont wake up the neighbors at 3:00a.m.

Magnaflow has hardly any drone, very low interior noise, stainless steel pipes, and can gain you some more power and about 1mpg. Quiet on the idle but nice & throaty when you get on it.

It really comes down to sound, what do you want? Loud or not so loud? I had the Mags on my truck the first time, not bad but I wanted more sound. Now I have the Flows on and I really like the sound. It just sounds like a bad a$$ truck. The Mags where just too tame. As far as performance, I don't know. Nobody seems to have any real proof, i.e. dyno test, just opinions when they say that Flows take away power. Mufflers are really all about sound, what sound do you want? Good luck.

What model of Magnaflow did you choose? It sounds like just what I'm looking for. Thanks.

If you want the loudest, it's hands down Flowmaster. Sounds really loud at WOT.

i have Magnaflow on my truck and my friend has the same truck as me and put flowmasters on. His is louder but has a higher pitch to it, the magnaflow on mine gives a deeper rumble more like a truck should have. I would go with the magnaflow

I also went for the Magnaflow. It was around $360 from hotexhaust.com.
Not too loud at highway speeds..but loud at takeoff. Took about 1 hr to install after I got the factory one off in 1 peice incase I ever want to go back.
