K&N Difference

Other than the metal tubing on the 77 series. Between the 77 series and the 57 FIPK GenII, does one produce more horsepower as well as take in more air? I am just trying to figure out the diff between them, Some of you swear by the 77 series and some swear by the other. Please help

The 57 & 63 series will produce more horsepower. I believe it's because of the plastic tubing versus the metal. People seem to get the 77 series more for the looks of it.

Could you explain what happens with the sensor in the old intake? I am wanting to install a K&N unit but am a bit curious as to what else I am going to run into.

I am looking for performance. So the FIPK does bring in more power, will it sound good as well. I have a custom 3" catback exhaust with a Dynomax straight through muffler. I appreciate the help. Choosing between the 77 series and the FIPK Gen II is driving my nuts!

I just put a 63 on my 06 yesterday. Slight sound difference but have stock exhaust. All sensors plug into it as mentioned. I did think it felt better. Added 1.01 tons of power. Would buy again.

yeah I put the 63 in mine and love the boost it gave me! I think the 63 rates the best of the three according to K&N's own numbers but it may be illegal in some states. I picked mine up on ebay brand new in box for $195 dlvd a few months ago.

good investment and super easy to install

K&N Link

BLK - Heres the link to K&N's web page for your vehicle. It's says you need the 57-2541 FIPK 13.12HP or 77-2541KP 9.38HP

I believe the 57 and 63 series are very similar performace wise with the 63 series being for newer model years. They only make one or the other for the model year. In my Expedition I have the 57 series and they don't make the 63series and for my F150 I can get the 63 but not the 57.

The only reason they are illegal is because they have not been granted CARB approved status yet. One granted they will be legal per the guy I talked to at K&N.

i just put a k and n 57 series on my 05 king ranch. installed in about an hour and a half. no problems, fit good and instructions were good. the instructions say to remove the connectors from the sensors. i did not for fear of breaking the clips or having a problem. was able to do the swap of parts with the sensors still hooked up.

now time to drive
