ok last night i was driving my ford f150 straight 6 truck (1984) automatic with air
and as i pulled into a parking lot a lady got out of her car screaming that my truck was on FIRE my muffler has a hole the size of my head was shooting flames out for about 4 feet lol
what can cause this is it the carb or exahust

 

did the muffler always have a hole in it?? or did it just blow out like that?? maybye fuel isnt being burned fully and being dumped raw down the exhaust. carb probably needs major adjusting.

 

ok what happened is we have had a exhaust leak for a while and the carb is running rich for a while well really the truck has been running rough for a while but with the tranny problems and the problem with a friend unplugging my vaccumn hoses i have not had time to worry about it

 

If everything in your fuel system is not right, it does not burn all of the fuel efficiently as it should, there is some in the exhaust gases. If you have ever watched a nascar race, many times you will see flames coming out of the the exhaust, this is unburnt fuel. You should make sure the fuel system in your truck is functioning correctly. ASAP
