CAI's do not increase gas mileage. They take in hot air from behind the radiator, which hurts horsepower. I really don't understand them. It might help your horsepower if you figure out a way to bring in some cold air. As for gas mileage, unless you jacked up your MAF sensor with oil, there should be no decrease in fuel mileage.

My CAI doesnt pull ait from the radiator. in fact, my filter is seperated from the radiator by a piece of steel.

Mine doesn't pull hot air from behind the radiator. It pulls air from the fender well. It's surrounded by a heat shield.
My CAI has increased my gas mileage. I've calculated quite a few times. It might be small but the increase is there. Numbers don't lie.

I am haveing the same problem . I just had plugs put in and the injectors cleaned at the dealer and I am only getting about 10mpg . I have a 2000 F150 with the 5.4 . If there is oil on th MAF sensor how would you clean it off ? Can you use carb cleaner or brake cleaner ?? Everyone I talk to says that I should be getting like 17mpg or more out of this truck but I dont.
My only other thought is the cold air induction is making the fuel inrichment stay on longer or on all the time .

I would use electrical parts cleaner, but that's just me. I don't know what is recommended by ford....

Try putting your old intake back on, and see if it fixes your fuel mileage problem.
