Stock air intake mod, will it work?

Here's what I'm thinking of doing and will have the same effect as buying a k&N intake system.
First take out the old air filter. Get a drill bit anf sit down and drill as many holes on the plastic intake houseing as suits you.
Second buy a K&N filter.
Third put it on and put the houseing with the holes in it on.

This will allow alot more air flow just like the air intake system. I don't see why this would not work just as well. Any reason why it won't work?

click on "technical articles" scroll down ad you will see a air box mod. you basically out the box and use the k@n filter. the pics will explain better. i did it to mine. doesnt really make that much of a difference. you need some kind of exhaust upgrade to go with it to notice any real power gains.

I wouldnt mutilate the box that much. You can do more simple things to increase diameter of the intake up to the diameter of the TB.

silencer removal, and fender inlet mod are two examples.

You're not doing anything to seal out the hot engine compartment air. Part of a 'cold air induction' system is to pull outside air, 20-40+ degrees cooler, into the intake tract. Cooler air... denser charge... more O^2 to react in the combustion process... more HP.
