Choosing an exhaust

Hello im looking to get a new exhaust for my 2002 F150 XLT 4x4 Supercrew. Im just looking for something that people can hear me coming. Something LOUD. Im not too familiar with exhuast stuff sooo could someone clue me in on CATS and what dumping is? Sorry if those are stupid questions. But I'd like some suggestions on loud exhausts that are around $500. Thanks

If you want loud, run true duals with no mufflers. Cats are catalytic converts, they are part of the emssions stuff. Dumping is not running tailpipes all the way out the back, it just exits under the truck.

Thanks alot guys, Now should I go Magnaflow or Flowmaster? Considering those are 2 of the popular exhaust systems. Also are there any draw backs to the true dual? Also do they even have available a True Dual exhasut system that I can buy and bolt on?

i guess you dont really know alot about exhaust so true duals with no mufflers means exactly that, no mufflers. they are two pipes comin from your cats all the way back, instead of them connecting . just look under your truck. flowmaster and magnaflow are the people who make mufflers, so you dont have to worry about choosing which one cause you dont need a muffler. you have to go to an custom exhaust shop which are not that hard to find to get them to bend the pipes for your truck. magnaflow and flowmaster dont make true dual kits. its alot cheaper too than buying a kit like $200. there are no drawbacks that you can tell its just louder. if you feel something, its just your mind. youll probably get worse gas milage cause youll be gunning it all the time. dont worry about your cats or dumping. just go to an exhaust shop and tell them you want true duals with no mufflers. hers some pics. also, you can find a lot more info, if you use a thing called the "SEARCH" at the top of the forum.

My 99 F150 had 2 flowmaster cats and from then pipes straight to the rear bumper, it was loud as hell and would set off car alarms if I drove by on the gas... If you want LOUD this is what to do, but it's pushing it in my book, you would have to speak up during conversation every time I would accelerate. Also consider adding an X pipe with this setup.
