oh, ok. i have heard that when you install an air intake, there is a warning light that comes on inside the cab. Is that true?

probably only if something wasn't installed right, if everythings installed correctly maybe the computer needs reset, though the negative & positive cables should be disconnected from the battery when doing a mod such as a new intake, probably could work anyways.

No, that does not happen under normal circumstances.

10 hp seems little optimistic. Most vehicles get 3- 5 hp and sometimes at a low end hp loss.

I have had experiences with both the products. K&N had greater results. Don't go for looks. Things like polished aluminum just attract heat. MPG wise I have seen an increase though with K&N Cold Air intake. Ive also experienced smoother shifts, better throttle response, and greater power band.

To the guys who say you only get a few HP like 3-5 from a CAI, how do you know? Have you dyno'ed trucks before and after installing one? Do you work for Ford, K&N, or AEM and tested them somehow? Tell me, how do you know?

I said 10-15... sorry I guess 11 must be the correct number. Here is the exact place where you can see that number. It doesn't say 3-5, it says 11.

As for torque, I said 15-20 ft/lbs... sorry I guess 19.2 is the correct number. Here is the exact place where you can see that number.

well i did the series 5o flowmaster w/single 3" pipe hice improvement in acceleration, quiet on the hiway, added the series 63 k&n cai yesterday and took a nice 550 mile trip today, results nice and throaty exhaust excellent throttle response.if you look for mpg imho, keep at 70mph,i got 19-20 mpg but at 75 it dropped to 15-16 mpg.now im waiting on the edge programmer to arrive.this is fun but hard to keep my foot out of it,im real happy how quiet this setup is at hiway cruising speeds.no lights have come on or anything, after 20 miles i re tightened everything on the k&n cai.also ordered the filter sock for added protection.

well it seems that everyone is happy with their air intakes. but it does seem that some people prefer k&n and other AEM. I would like the AEM because you dont have to oil it. But if the k&n performs better, than it is worth oiling it i guess. thanks for the opinions everyone.

plus if you dont want to oil a oil type air intake they make those prefilters so that dont really matter any more

I remember before I bought my K & N FIPK II, that I came across some truck site online where a guy took a completely stock F150 with the 5.4 triton and installed an Airaid, K&N, and Volant CAI and dyno tested them all. What he said on the site was that most companies do open hood dyno tests with the intakes so they will be taking in less hot air and getting better numbers to boast. But what this guy did was closed hood dyno testing with all 3 and the numbers were somewhat similar, but only a few horsepower here and there. Not huge numbers. I think the K & N FIPK had the best top end power...the volant had more consistent numbers cause it was a closed box design....but the K & N he tested had no head shield....so maybe that affected it slightly.

Overall im happy with the K & N I bought.
