Is there anyway to speed up the "burning out" process. How could I get my glass pack to "burnout" I have had it for about a year now. Is there anything I can do to speed up that process?

 

J/C, what do you mean by burnout? I have glasspacks on my jeep, and was thinking about sticking a waterhose up there after a nice long drive. S/B to headers, to straight pipe = LOUD.

 

Thats an old rumor^ There is no glass, they are fiberglass stuffed. It just takes time for carbon buildup. water up there will do nothing.

 

So in reality you want straight pipes...so just cut that thing out and put a pipe there!

 

Yea but I don't have the tools to do that nor do I want to pay anyone to do it.

 

Do glass packs still burn out or get louder over the months/years?

I heard they used to because the fiber glass shards would litterally blow out of the muffler into the air. Over time they have less glass in them.

Every muffler gets louder over time. I sold my truck that had the glass packs on it and now I have a newer truck and I put flowmaster super 40's on.
