No pipe after muffler??

I asked a few questions about this a few days ago and got good feedback on it. My new question is- Does anyone think that if I cut off my factory muffler and pipe and reinstall a 40 series flowmaster without any pipe running out the back, will it sound any better. Thinking about doing this for a cleaner look to my truck. A buddy told me it would sound better. It's going on a 1998 Ford f-150 4.2 5 speed. Thanks.

yah you can do it no problem, just have them weld on a dump tip. Id recomend atleast 6" of pipe out the back side of the muffler to retain a small amount of back pressure

Heres mine, using close to all the same factory piping, and dumped...
