5.0's sound great with hollowed cats. I'd still dual it out the back for the maximum potential sound without headaches in the cab.

You can gut it and leave it on, or take it off and weld in a section of pipe, or if you have emissions you take off the cat, measure it up, get a piece of pipe and weld on the fittings and make a piece that you can take off and replace at your disposal for emissions testing!

I was thinking the same thing for my 4.6L, but with a dual outlet. Would it sound any good or not? I don't have emissions to worry about.

I am sure you all know this but gutting your cats is illegal. Just because they do not check you does not make it OK. High flow cats are cheap and keep you legal and stops you from poisoning the environment. You may not care but your grandchildren might.

i was always told to take a pipe that just fits inside the cat and hammer it through to bust it all out.but when i tried this with mine, and a sledge hammer,it didn't work.so i used a combination of a longass drill bit,a hammer and a crow bar to drill it to weaken it then the hammer and crow bar to break it up and dumped it all out.
i still wanna know why we have to have cats, yet those bastard cows get to strut around fartin wherever they please and nobody says anything to them.

Cats are FEDERALLY mandated so it does not matter where you live in the U.S. of A. If your vehicle came with them and it is driven on AMERICA'S roads you are required by law to have them. If it is an off road or race vehicle then you are correct. There is no dispute about whether cats work, it is proven technology. You may dispute their neccessity but their use and effectiveness have been proven. It is simple science.
The topic was cats and I stayed on it.

The effectiveness has been questioned by many studies, with variences from the added weight, added cost, and other associations as to the true effect they actually have. Most of the worst emissions of fumes from an internal combustion engine happen in the first 5 or so minutes, when the cat has not yet effectively heated up and become operable.

Back to topic though.....

I don't know exactly what the underside of your truck looks like, but some have a bolt on cat that can be removed by itself. You then simply ram a broomstick or other object that will fit in the pipe through it until you get it all cleaned out (which may take some time) Note though, you should wear some sort of breathing apparatus, like a cheap mask a doctor wears, as the stuff in there isn't good for you at all.

Also, havin a 95 model should make it easier, as there is no OBDII to fight with so you should get away without any modification other than simply getting it off (which can be a biatch) and hollowing it out.

One last note for you (and either way you go doesn't matter nor bother me)

Think of it like this.....You buy catbacks to reduce backpressure and free the flow to allow maximum air to get in and out of your engine. The cat in your exhaust is like you being a size 40 but wearing a size 38 instead. It would work, however it would also impede you from being normal with a tight waist line and cramped *****. If you haven't, I suggest you look up information on cats (which there is a lot of) and see what they look like. Basically, a large obstruction with hundreds of small square holes. IMO, any obstruction is a bad one, but in my case I had to have them so I used the smallest ones I could find. Best of luck
