Flowmaster 40 Series= lower MPG?

I have noticed that many on this forum claim to get about 14-15 MPG in the city with there 4x4 with there intake and custom tune.

I dont have a custom tune, I have 32.8 inch tires instead of the stock 32 inch tires that come with the FX4, and 3.73 gears. I am getting an average of 11 mpg in the city with very conservative driving.

I read a thread where someone was stating that on these new F150's the backpressure needs to be near perfect to get the best MPG and performance out of the engine. Can anyone confirm this?

It would only make sense to me that by adding an intake, and a less restricting exhaust it would help your engine run more efficiently.

If i wanted good gas milage I would not have chosen to buy a V8 truck weighing around 7,000 pounds empty. 11 MPG just seems extremly low.

Any input would be great!

Adding a CAI and exhaust is a great thing to do but the increase in mpg's is only around 1-2 mpg. That's good but not great. The 3:73 gears aren't helping your mpg's much either. 14-15 mpg sounds more like the 4.6 engine with 3:55 gears in the flat lands.

That is what I had probally assumed. I had read another post where someone was claiming 14-15 city driving in an FX4 with a tune, intake, and exhaust.

Thanks for the reply!
