removing silencer?
I've heard removing the intake silencer will bring in more air & sound a bit meaner, where & how do I remove the silencer?
ps I have a 5.4L idk if that has anything to do with it

Just to give you another opinion. I wish that I had not removed mine. All it did was make the truck sound louder. I also feel that i lost power doing that. Also when I did it I could not put it back. So its a one way mod.
A lot of the people doing the removal are doing so with the 4.6. It is a much easier mod on those as the silencer is inside the tube. The 5.4 is a more complicated procedure and as stated above, can't be undone without buying a new intake.

If you remove the silencer, I'd get the entire cold air intake or you'll just suck in hot exhaust manifold air. The intake kit I got didn't include the box that surrounds the filter, so I used a guys idea of using a trash can to enclose the filter. Don't let anyone tell you that you lose power, its bs. I have a mentor (computer that plugs into your computer and reads everything about whats going on with your truck) it measures torque and I tested my truck before and after and you definitely get more power and yes there is alot more intake noise. It sounds awesome and it adds more torque and cooler intake temps, I'm running intake temps 20 degrees colder than it was before.
