simple exhaust questions???

Hey this might seem common sense, but i'm a little new to this so bare with me. I ordered a flowmaster 40 series 3" in dual 2.5" out muffler for my 2000 F150 5.4
I plan on putting in on myself with 2 turndown pipes. Since the stock muffler is a bit bigger it looks as though the new muffler won't line up where the hangers should be. So i'm assuming ill need to get a pipe to fill this gap. My main question though is it looks as though the stock pipe from the cat back to the muffler is a 2.5" pipe? Do i need to replace the whole pipe from the cat back to the muffler so it will fit the 3" muffler in or can and should i just get a pipe that goes from 2.5" to 3" where i plan to cut the original pipe? I plan on doing this myself since cutting stuff and clamping on stuff seems plenty easy to me. I just need to know what to do about the different sizes?
Any help would be great!

ok

I believe the pipe off the cat is 2.5". So then why is my muffler made to accept a 3"? Hmmmm so I guess that means you just have to change the whole pipe or is it common that most companies make converter pipes for that exact purpose?...especially seeing that alot of companies make simple bolt on kits. Just wondering what anyone thinks

yeah

yah thats what i figured...but i think im gonna just hold off on doing stuff myself and have a shop do the work for me, so it will all be welded and also up the whole pipe to a 3"

I might also look into what a true dual setup would cost
