Will a muffler make it louder alone?
Will a muffler make it louder alone?
I want to make my truck louder. Thats it! I am thinking of only changing out the stock muffler no piping and maybe a new tip for looks. I know that I will not gain any performance, but for now I only really want a deeper sound on my 2002 4.6L.
Whats the best muffler for a nice deep tone but nothing so loud that it becomes annoyign after long drives?
Also can I PROPERLY swap out just my muffler at home or do i need to weld it?
Thanks,

You can't have LOUD and no drone. Just not an option.
However, Magnaflow is the most popular choice for the fact it sounds very deep and throaty when you need it to, but it does NOT drone.
As for install w/o welding, I don't think so with just a muffler swap.

I started with Magnaflows SIDO, and it wasn't bad but I wanted more. Now I have the Flowmaster super 40's and I love it. Deep rumble at idle and loud on accelleration. My 9 year old boy loves it when I set off car alarms. As for drone, I think there's alot of misconception as to what "drone" really is. When I drive down the freeway, I can hear the tone but I don't believe it's actually drone because it sounds good. Half the time I don't even listen to my radio because I love the sound of the truck. And the gentle whistle from the Procharger doesn't hurt either.
