turn downs direct the flow towards the ground and cause the sound waves to reverb differently than straight out the back or side. I would imagine though that the decibal level at end of the pipe would be exactly the same either way just that torn down (dumps) gives the illusunion of being louder. but dont let me confuse you dumps are always going to be louder ecspecialy in the cab.

Awesome thanks for all the info everyone. The guy at the muffler shop said instead of a cat back system they could do a custom dual exhaust which would give me better sound and performance, but they would need to put some kind of sensor on each side so the computer in the truck wouldn't give messed up reading.

What's your opinion on that?

I'd get a Maganaflow single-in/single-out cat back.

Read this:

But buy it here:

Use coupon code "jetta" at checkout for a nice savings.

Flowmaster or IMCO

Is IMCO extreme louder then a flowmaster 40 series. Right now I have flowmaster 40 series and it is not loud enough. Is IMCO louder. If I change to hi-flow cats should i keep my 40 series or change to IMCO?

yes the IMCO Extreme series is louder...trust me......it is about twice as loud as the flowmaster 40 series.....but if you want super loud i would suggest the high flow cats and the IMCO extreme series muffler

So if I change to a IMCO muffler and put hi flows on will it be super loud. Louder then if i did flowmaster? What hi-flows should i go with? Will all this pass state emissions?

Go high flow cats and keep the 40 series. If this is a daily driver...louder isn't always better. Now if you get head and cam....that's a different story.

UWANSUM-I just want as loud as possible. Will the IMCO with hi-flows be louder. What do you mean by getting head and cam

Yes IMCO will be louder...Head= Ported Cylinder Heads with new springs, ect..., Cam=Bigger lift and duration cam will give a more lopy racecar sound. Although this is a possibility...it will kick you in the pocket for a mediocre performance gain.

So, Sounds like I made my decision. Change to IMCO muffler and change to hi-flow cats. Wat are the best hi-flow cats out there?
